Title: Feel Pretty
Fandom: FF7
Characters/Pairings: Aeris/Zack
Rating: PG
Summary: What Aeris likes on her boys
Notes: The prompt was "better in dresses" so naturally I went this route. For [livejournal.com profile] magicgentek

"You want me to wear what?"

"A dress. Oh come on, a big bad SOLDIER like you isn't secure?"

Aeris liked to test Zack's persistence. It wasn't that she was cruel--she'd never suggest anything that would really hurt him--but she wasn't going to be won like some easy prize for a smile and a few speeches. It wasn't like she hadn't had other offers since she'd lost some of her childish features and dresses didn't lay straight on her anymore.

"Oh I'm secure! I just... why a dress?"

"Why not a dress?"

He paced around, opening his mouth to say something a few times before deflating in the most comical manner. "Hand it over."

She'd taken special care to find one broad enough for his shoulders. Boy shoulders weren't delicate like a girl's, but thankfully the Slums didn't have a shortage of less than delicate women. And it was just the loveliest shade of blue.

Zack stripped with the expected military precision, and any good view she could have gotten was completely ruined by the regulation briefs. Gray? What was with Shinra and turning everything from the ground to the sky such an icky color? Thankfully she was prepared for such an event.

"Oh and you'll need these."

"I'll need those?"

"Well they obviously aren't my size now are they?"

It was one of the few things her mother--her real one--had taught her. Even if she was way too young to get it then. Real love isn't afraid of anything.

"But Aeris, I'm not sure that'll cover anything!"

And it especially wasn't afraid of ruffled boyshort panties.

"Sure it will. They're called boyshorts for a reason. And the dress won't lay right if you wear... that ugly thing you have on."

"Well turn around."

Maybe she was getting a little more glee out of this than simply testing him. She'd had quite a lot of fun finding the foundation garment, after all. And he must have dropped the soap once or twice around his comrades, considering how when she peeked he already had the lovely blue dress covering anything interesting.

"Ok, I'm ready."

The transformation... was not as remarkable as she'd hoped, but a wig and some makeup would fix that right up. And the dress did go quite perfectly with his eyes. She walked around him, admiring her foraging job, for the shoulders didn't look snug at all.

"So... do I get a kiss for this?"

Oh boys. She brought a finger to her lips, puckered, then pressed the finger to his lips. He'd closed his eyes in anticipation, and she couldn't help but laugh a little at his expression when he opened them again.

"Better, but you could still use some improvement."

If she could get one boy this far, there was still hope for her other ideas.

Title: Memorial
Fandom: FF8
Characters/Pairings: Laguna/Quistis
Rating: PG
Summary: It all comes down to memory.
Notes: Prompt was "loss" for [personal profile] seventhe

She stands outside the memorial, and looks confused.

Laguna still rather likes the Sorceress Memorial, because it's the one place where no one will nag him--and he gets nagged a lot. Because that's what happens when you're supposed to be in charge of everything. He's been at this job longer than his other ones and it's started to chafe a bit; wasn't he supposed to keep traveling the world until something ate him?

But right, there is Quistis, standing looking confused outside the sorceress memorial, it is clearly not time to be having midlife crises.

"Are you lost?"

She's surprised, and that makes him feel awkward, almost like something as unlikely as finding Squall dancing around in Ellone's clothes singing pop music at the top of his lungs. Now that image is in his mind and the awkwardness leads to laughter.

"No and... what's funny?" She's giving him that look which suggests that there was supposed to be a kind of serious moment and he ruined it by imagining his son as the next Estharian Idol.

"Something silly." Awkward silence, and this time he doesn't fill it with silly images and tries to look. The place really looks like a dump since it's been years since daring rescues and heroics; evil sorceresses and scar-faced malcontents. A lot like a lot of Esthar, really.

Yes, there is something lost here.

"It's not a bad spot to come and think you know. Even if it's a little creepy." She nods and probably realizes he's not going to leave.

"What do you have to think about?" Uh, burn. Laguna never was good at the comebacks. That's Kiros's job. Like the debate he had with the one guy that wanted his job that apparently wouldn't have done a good enough job because Kiros and Ward kept feeding him all sorts of things to say with their phones--wandering again.

"Memories and stuff?" Smooooth. And apparently the wrong thing to say, judging by the way her expression--which was slightly superior before--completely falls.

"Right you wouldn't..." a few thoughts obviously go through her head, "...at least you remember what you've lost. I always have to wait for the condensed version."

Alright, so that does hit the squishy parts on him. He was an actor once, after all, they have to be in tune with their emotions! And it isn't like memory isn't like he doesn't know a lot about forgetting--but from the other side, the memory that wasn't able to be made in the first place. Forgotten before he even had a chance.

"Well, you shouldn't--shouldn't compress anything. Forgetting or not, I think you need a better memory keeper." He sniffles and forgets to mention that as a journalist he's completely available at the moment, as the presses won't run his stories after the Great Moomba Incident of '03.

She kind of half-laughs about the same time he blubbers a little bit. He'd never quite gotten to the lessons of acting involving stoicism.

"You're a lot easier to talk to than... some." She takes a couple steps and pats him on the shoulder, changes her mind and kisses him on the cheek. "Maybe you'll tell me something, sometime?"

He's not quite sure, but there's a parody of something in that statement. There was something about SeeD that made them all talk in metaphors or euphemisms as would be the politcally correct way of putting it.

But she's a good ten feet away before he has vocal functions again. "Did you know I used to be a journalist?!"

Title: Experiment Failed
Fandom: FF:TSW
Characters/Pairings: Neil, Jane, Ryan (Aki/Gray mentioned)
Summary: Neil's too busy meddling to see what's in front of him.
Notes: Prompt was "missing out" for [livejournal.com profile] ovo_lexa

It had been Neil's idea to jam the lift, out of some sense of something. Ok, maybe it was because if Mr. Square Jawed Leader Man couldn't get the girl, there wasn't any hope for schlubs like him. And there wasn't going to be any hope for Gray if Aki kept running off and doing crazy Aki things at crazy Aki times in crazy unsafe Aki places outside barrier cities. Communication! It was all about communication. Or so he'd read.

Jane was predicatibly... Jane to all this.

"It'll take more than a moment," she muttered, mostly to herself. But he was always tuned in on her frequency. He couldn't really help it.

"Hey, it's something, right? Not like they're missing out on anything more than just more blah blah blah from command."

Jane rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, which could mean anything from 'bonehead' to 'I hope you die in your sleep'. Neil could communicate!

"It's like chemistry, all it takes is a little spark to make a big boom."

"People aren't science experiments, Neil." She pushed herself off the bulkhead she was leaning against and walked down the corridor a ways, far enough that'd he'd have to be extra loud and obnoxious to communicate with her.

He turned to Ryan. "Was it something I said?"

The big guy shook his head. "I think your experiment failed."

High above them, Mr. Square Jawed Leader Man was kissing the Dr. Crazy Aki and Neil was yet again missing out.
